After the second match of the Test series being played between England and New Zealand, the ICC has released the latest rankings. Former England captain Joe Root has got the benefit of his excellent performance. Joe Root has become the number one batsman in the ICC Test rankings, overtaking Australian star batsman Labuschagne.
Joe Root scored 176 runs in the second test and now he has 897 points in the ICC rankings. However, Joe Root has also achieved 917 points in the first ICC rankings. Labuschagne has lost one place and has now reached number two with 892 points.
Steve Smith remains at the third position with 845 points. Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam continues to dominate and is in fourth place with 815 points. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is at the fifth position with 798 points.
Kohli is in danger
Two players of Team India remain in the list of top 10 batsmen. Rohit Sharma is at the eighth position with 754 points. Virat Kohli is at 10th position in the rankings with 742 points. After a long time, Virat Kohli is in danger of being dropped from the list of top 10 batsmen.
There has also been a slight change in the ranking of bowlers. Pat Cummins, however, remains number one. But after a poor performance in the first two Tests, Jamieson has now slipped three places to number six. Trent Boult has gained four places and has reached 9th position.
